CAIRO, Oct 28 (Aswat Masriya) - Study was halted in schools in Ras Ghareb after seven people were killed and 23 others were injured, in the early hours of Friday, due to heavy rain and flooding in the Red Sea municipality.
General director of education in the Red Sea governorate Noura Fadel said that study will remain halted until further notice, according to state-run news agency MENA.
Heavy rains and flooding hit several provinces across Egypt, leaving multiple death and injuries.
An earlier statement by the health ministry said that two people were electrocuted in Ismailia after they were hit by lightening.
State-run MENA reported that heavy flooding blocked the Cairo- Sohag road and drifted two buses and a number of cars killing six people and injuring 24 others.
The Ministry of Social Solidarity allocated EGP10,000 to those who died and EGP2,000 to injured people.
Egypt was hit last year by a similar flooding crisis which prompted the government to allocate EGP2 billion to fix the ailing drainage system.
