CAIRO, June 6 (Aswat Masriya) - Prosecution ordered on Monday the detention of 12 education ministry officials for 15 days pending investigation in leaking of general secondary exam incident, a judicial source said.

The source added that some of the officials ordered to be detained are members of committee responsible for writing down the exams and others are responsible for printing of the exam papers.

The ministry of education cancelled on Sunday the religion exam for the general secondary certificate (Thanaweya Amma) after it was leaked shortly before it was set to take place.

The exam was accordingly postponed to June 29.

Another judicial source told Aswat Masriya that the officials denied that accusations leveled against them and said that the students are responsible for leaking the exam.

The Thanaweya Amma exams are held in the final year of Egypt's secondary education stage before students are set to enter university.
