CAIRO, Apr 4 (Aswat Masriya) - One policeman was killed and two others injured in an attack on a police vehicle during the early hours of Monday in the Qalyubia province, north of Cairo, according to the interior ministry.
In a statement published on its Facebook page, the ministry said that unidentified gunmen opened fire on the vehicle which was in the vicinity of a police station.
Bombings and shootings targeting security forces have surged since then-President Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood was ousted by the military in July 2013, following mass protests against his rule.
Most attacks first occurred in North Sinai, yet they have crawled into other parts of the country, including the capital.
