CAIRO, Oct 15 (Aswat Masriya) - An Egyptian criminal court cleared on Thursday Mohamed Rabie Al-Zawahri from charges against him in what is known in the media as the "Zawahri cell" case, but prosecutors were quick to file a new case against him for forming a terrorist group called "Alta'efa AlMansoura" (The Victorious Sect).

The same court sentenced 10 others to death, 32 to life in prison and 18 to high impact incarceration as well as one to a one year prison term in the same case.

Mohamed Rabie Al-Zawahri is the brother of al-Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahri.

In the Zawahri Cell case, Mohamed  Al-Zawahri and 67 others were accused of establishing a "terrorist" organisation in affiliated with al-Qaeda. They were referred to a criminal court in April 2014.

In January, several defendants in the case including Al-Zawahri were sentenced to a year with labour for insulting the judiciary.

Zawahri was arrested on August 17, 2013, about six weeks after President Mohamed Mursi's was removed by the military following protests against his rule.
