The Supreme Administrative Court issued Sunday a second headline ruling after upholding the dissolution of the People's Assembly following a decision made by the High Constitutional Court in late June.
The court ruled to approve the right of candidacy for former National Democratic Party (NDP) members in the upcoming parliamentary elections. The NDP was the party headed by ousted president Hosni Mubarak.
According to the reasoning of the court, it is "unacceptable" to deprive any citizen of his political rights, "including the right of candidacy to any legislative council" as long as he or she does not violate candidacy conditions.
