MINYA, April 27 (Aswat Masriya) An Egyptian court gave 28 Muslim Brotherhood supporters sentences ranging from three to 23 years in prison on Sunday over riots in Minya.
The defendants are accused of rioting and practicing violence following the ousting of President Mohamed Mursi of the Brotherhood.
Mursi was overthrown by the army last year in response to mass demonstrations across his rule.
The defendants were also accused of carrying weapons and disrupting traffic.
Only 13 of the defendants attended today's hearing while the rest were sentenced in absentia.
