Ties between Egypt and India will be of great value in the coming years, an Indian newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Mursi told The Hindu newspaper that he puts high hopes on his visit to India and is interested in the successful Indian experiences in the fields of education, information technology, and eradicating poverty.

Mursi is surrounded by a political storm likely to be stirred by elements of the former regime to target the first democratically elected Islamist president, The Hindu stated.

In an interview with the newspaper, the Egyptian president discussed the Nahda project which was his electoral campaign programme and explained that it guarantees democracy and social justice and includes short-term and long-term plans as well.

There are endeavours to communicate with Indian companies working in the Gulf area to work with Egypt in a project to develop the Suez Canal, Mursi said.

“Some people do not want to see the objectives of the revolution completed. There are problems and we deal with them,” Mursi stated.

“The upcoming parliamentary elections are the final step in the transitional phase. Afterwards we will be able to achieve stability and create harmony between classes and groups of the Egyptian society with the coming months.”
