Mansour al-Noubi, an organiser of the January 25 Youth movement, said on Wednesday he received a call from President Mohamed Mursi’s legal advisor, Mohamed Fouad Gadalla, informing him that the president issued a decree annulling the auction put forward by the ministry of agriculture’s General Authority of Agricultural Development.

Al-Noubi also said Gadalla invited him to the presidency headquarters to present the Nubian cause, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported al-Noubi as saying.

Scores of Nubians in Egypt continued their protests on Wednesday in front of the Ministry of Agriculture’s headquarters in Dokki to call for returning to their old land at the lake area behind the High Dam and annul any auction to sell this land without establishing an independent body to develop Nubia.

The protestors emphasized their commitment not to abandon their old land or sell it to investors. They added that they will not overlook the rights of Nubians to resettle.
