CAIRO, Jul 12 (Aswat Masriya) - Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni is expected to arrive in Egypt on Monday to meet with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shukry, a Foreign Ministry statement read.
Shukry and Gentiloni are scheduled to hold a press conference following their meeting, the statement added.
Gentiloni's visit comes two days after parts of the Italian Consulate in Cairo were damaged in a car bomb attack. The explosion claimed the life of one Egyptian and injured 10 others. No Italians were injured in the attack.
Islamic State fighters in Iraq and Syria claimed responsibility for the attack, according to Reuters.
Egypt has been battling a wave of militancy since the military ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi in July 2013, after mass protests against his rule. The majority of attacks target security forces.
