Egypt's ruling Muslim Brotherhood will hold a press conference in Cairo's Rabaa al-Adaweya Mosque at 19:30 p.m. on Monday, it said in a statement.
Supporters of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi have been holding a sit-in outside the mosque since Friday to counter anti-regime protests.
Raged protesters stormed the Brotherhood's main headquarters in Mokattam earlier on Monday, following a night of clashes between the opponents and supporters of the Islamist group.
The clashes resulted in the death of eight people.
Mursi’s opponents staged mass demonstrations on Sunday to push for a no-confidence vote against him and call for early presidential elections, exactly a year after the Islamist president was sworn into office.
