Egypt's National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) said on Wednesday that 56 people were killed and 2, 028 were injured in the clashes that erupted following the uprising's anniversary.

According to a fact-finding committee formed by the NCHR to investigate the recent violence, 48 public buildings were attacked.

The Chairman of the Complaints Committee in the Council, Abdel Moneim Abdel-Maksoud, said that three of the dead and 361 of the injured belong to the security forces.

In a press conference held by the committee, it reported that 450 suspects were arrested in relation to the events.

The committee monitored the presence of children under the age of 14 in the front row of the protests and said that some of them were arrested.

NCHR researcher, Ossama Nashaat, said that "the crisis was political, but the authorities resorted to resolving it through the use of force."

Nashaat explained that this intensified the problem, "especially that the ministry of interior used teargas excessively and fired indiscriminately at protesters," he added that the interior also assaulted a funeral of 27 martyrs in Port Said.

"We are ashamed to demand, again, the restructuring of the police," he said.

A copy of the report issued by the fact-finding committee will be submitted to the president, the cabinet and the attorney general.
