CAIRO, Jun 21 (Aswat Masriya) - The Arab ministerial committee on Palestine called for taking "concrete" steps towards committing to a two a state solution to the Palestinian Israeli conflict during a meeting on Sunday, Egypt's Foreign Ministry said.

The committee is tasked with making efforts to bring an end to the "Israeli occupation of Palestinian land," a statement from the ministry said.

The committee members stressed that there is a "pressing need" to resolve the conflict and discussed ways to provide the appropriate circumstances for the resumption of negotiations.

"The purpose of the negotiations should be reaching a final agreement" within a reasonable time frame that guarantees ending the occupation and creating a Palestinian state, which is "sovereign, continuous, independent and viable," the committee said. 

The meeting was headed by Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri and was attended by French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius. 

Fabius arrived in Cairo on Saturday, in the first stop of a regional tour which will take him to Israel and the Palestinian territories.

The french minister earlier told France's general public radio that he will put forward a French proposition to restart the negotiations "within an international framework".

The last round of peace talks was launched by United States Secretary of State John Kerry in July 2013. The talks collapsed upon reaching a pre-planned deadline in April 2014.
