CAIRO, Feb 26 (Aswat Masriya) - Libyan Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thinni stressed on Thursday his country's "full coordination" with Egypt in facing "armed terrorist groups" during a meeting with his Egyptian counterpart on Thursday.

Thinni arrived in Cairo on Wednesday, heading a top ministerial delegation, to look into mutual cooperation with Egypt.

Egypt's air force launched coordinated airstrikes on militant targets in Libya last week in response to the beheading of 20 Egyptians at the hands of militants believed to belong to the Libya division of the Islamic State fighters in Iraq and Syria.

Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb stressed during his meeting with Thinni that Egypt supports Libya's "legitimate" governement in Tobruk, according to a cabinet statement. 

Libyan capital Tripoli has fallen under the control of the Fajr Libya or Libya Dawn Islamist militia in August 2014.

Meanwhile, Egypt and the international community only recognise authorities based in the eastern Libyan city of Tobruk.  

Thinni said his government supports a proposal presented at the Arab League to establish a unified Arab force to confront terrorism.

Egypt is making endeavours to rally the international community behind backing a draft resolution at the United Nations Security Council to lift an arms embargo on the Libyan government.
