CAIRO, Dec 16 (Aswat Masriya) Egyptian Prime Minister Hazem el-Beblawi met with governors on Monday to discuss preparations for the upcoming constitutional referendum set for January 14 and 15 of next year, reported the state news agency MENA.
The governors’ council discussed necessary logistics required to ease the process for voters.
Interim President Adli Mansour announced on Saturday that the constitutional referendum will take place in mid-January.
A 50-member assembly finished drafting a new constitution two weeks ago and presented it to Mansour for ratification.
Beblawi said in a televised interview on Saturday that the government is prepared to secure the referendum against the plots of the Muslim Brotherhood.
“The government knows very well the plans of the Brotherhood and is capable of confronting this type of activities,” he said.
