A prosecutor's office has ordered the autopsy of Mohamed al-Gendy who his attorney argues was "tortured to death" after his arrest by police in January 27.

The attorney explained that the three other detainees who were kept with Gendy testified to the police assaults on the victim who was announced dead by Helal Hospital this morning due to a "brain bleed".

Meanwhile, the Popular Current - a prominent opposition party - has held President Mohamed Mursi and his interior minister Mohamed Ibrahim responsible for the death of the 28-year-old victim.

Popular Current spokesperson Heba Yassin has said that the medical report that the party ordered revealed that the hospital's report was amended to cover up, what it described as, the crime committed by state security police during their 3-day abduction of the victim.

A local newspaper had reported that the latter report showed evidence of torture, including electrocution marks, three broken ribs and a fractured skull, on Gendy's body.

It showed that the victim was hit on the head by a sharp tool and had parts of his body ironed, which are all injuries that could not have been caused as a result of a car accident, the Popular Current said.

The group insisted that it will go after the president and his interior minister - through legal and political means - until justice is served for Gendy and Amr Saad, another member of the Current who was killed in clashes that erupted by the presidential palace on Friday.
