Egypt's public funds prosecution is currently considering a new request filed by fugitive businessman Hussein Salem for financial settlements to drop corruption charges against him.
The request included allowing Egypt to acquire 75 percent of Salem's assets and funds inside Egypt and 55 percent of his assets and funds outside of the country, Emad Abdallah, attorney general of the public funds prosecution, told Aswat Masriya on Thursday.
It also entitles the government get 100 percent of the funds and assets that may be discovered in the future after Salem's settlement with Egypt.
Salem has waived his and his family's right to file lawsuits or claims through arbitration against Egypt, Abdallah said.
Salem has insisted on reconciling with the government in spite of a Spanish court decision that ruled against extraditing him.
Salem, a close aide of former president Hosni Mubarak, fled to Spain in February 2011 following a popular uprising that overthrew Mubarak.
In December 2012, a Spanish court annulled earlier rulings to hand Salem over to Egypt.
