CAIRO, Sept 4 (Aswat Masriya) - Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met with his Argentine counterpart on the sidelines of the G-20 summit on Saturday to discuss opportunities of enhancing bilateral relations, the state agency MENA reported.

Sisi arrived in China on Saturday at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend the 11th edition of the G20 summit, which sees the participation of a number of world leaders as well as top officials of several international organisations.

According to presidency spokesman Alaa Youssef, Sisi stressed during the meeting with Argentine president Mauricio Macri on Egypt’s keenness to achieve comprehensive development and provide an attractive investment climate.

He called on strengthening cooperation in tackling challenges and seeking common development.

Sisi also discussed efforts exerted by Egyptian authorities through the past years to "strengthen stability, consolidate democratic values and uphold the rule of law".

The Egyptian president expressed his country’s aspiration for the ratification of the free trade agreement with Mercosur (The South American Common Market), which allows preferential privileges for the Egyptian exports to enter the Latin American markets, and to reduce the cost of Egyptian imports from Latin American countries.

Meanwhile, Macri, whose country is set to host the 2018 G-20 Summit, said that the free trade agreement will soon be ratified, which should contribute to promoting economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Argentine president stressed that his country respects the free will of the Egyptian people, reaffirming the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, and confirming Argentine’s keenness to enhance cooperation with Egypt.
