CAIRO, Aug 14 (Aswat Masriya) - The committee tasked with managing Muslim Brotherhood funds froze the funds of former president Mohamed Mursi and more than 200 other Muslim Brotherhood figures, a judicial source told Aswat Masriya.
The source, who requested anonymity, said the committee froze the funds of Mursi alone, not his family. The Muslim Brotherhood figures were included in the decision in accordance with a court ruling that dragged them onto the lists of “terrorist entities”.
A criminal court included Mursi and others on the list of "terrorists" as per a ruling in a case dubbed as espionage with Hamas, the source added.
Among the figures on the list are Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie and the group’s second in command businessman Khairat al-Shater.
Mursi has been in prison since his military ouster in July 2013 after mass protests against his rule.
Since his ouster, Mursi was featured in several trials where he faced an array of charges including other espionage charges, inciting to kill protesters outside the presidential palace during his tenure, insulting the judiciary and escaping prison during the January 2011 Uprising.
