CAIRO, June 1 (Aswat Masriya) – Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán signed a number of cooperation agreements on Wednesday during Orbán’s visit to Cairo.

The Egyptian president held talks in a summit meeting with the Hungarian Prime Minister which tackled means of strengthening bilateral relations in various fields.

Egypt and Hungary signed agreements related to military cooperation, international cooperation , the media sector and civil aviation.

There was also a memorandum of understanding and a letter of intent for economic cooperation.

“We have discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and Europe, and our visions have converged regarding the importance of resuming talks on all official levels to coordinate our stances and exchange points of view,” Sisi told a news conference that was held after the summit.

The Syrian crisis and the situation in Libya were the highest on the agenda with respect to security issues in the region.

In June 2015, President Sisi visited Hungary and met with Orbán and head of the Hungarian parliament László Kövér following a visit to Germany at the time.

They had discussed economic cooperation between both states and means to enhance trade levels. Hungary had expressed its support for Egypt’s fight against terrorism and praised its efforts at achieving regional stability.
