CAIRO, Feb 12 (Aswat Masriya)- Egypt’s foreign minister Sameh Shukri is participating Friday in the 52nd Munich Security Conference (MSC).

The conference will be held over the course of three days from Feb. 12 to 14. It will be attended by around 30 heads of state and government and over 70 foreign and defence ministers.

MSC is a global forum for the discussion of peace and security issues around the world. A range of security and counter-terrorism topics including the refugee crisis, the war in Syria, and the future of the European security order will be discussed in the conference, according to the conference’s website.

According to a foreign ministry statement on Thursday, Shukri is set to meet up with more than 20 international officials on the sidelines of the conference where all issues related to the Middle East will be discussed.

The Egyptian foreign minister will also attend the International Support for Syria Group (ISSG) meeting and another meeting related to the situation in Libya. Both will be held on the sidelines of MSC.

Last week, Shukri concluded a three-day visit to Washington D.C. where he met with his counterpart John Kerry, U.S. Congress members and U.S. National Security Advisor. 

He also spoke to American media including NPR radio station and Foreign Policy magazine on topics related to human rights conditions in Egypt and the death of the Italian student Giulio Regeni in Cairo.
