CAIRO, Dec 26 (Aswat Masriya) - The Egyptian authorities banned the Muslim Brotherhood's newspaper on Thursday, reported the state news agency MENA.

The Freedom and Justice (al-Hurriya wa al-Adala) daily newspaper, named after the Brotherhood's political party, first appeared in October 2011.

The authorities have coordinated the ban with Ahram Press Foundation, which is responsible for printing and circulation of the newspaper.

This decision comes in application of the cabinet's announcement of the Brotherhood as a terrorist group, according to MENA.

Egypt's formal designation of the Brotherhood as a terrorist group on Wednesday came one day after a car bomb explosion at a security building in Nile Delta's Manousra that killed 16 people and injured around 100.

This step allows the government to charge whoever is part of the Brotherhood or promotes or funds it in any way with membership of a terrorist group, a cabinet statement said.
