Egypt Air announced on Wednesday it will raise the number of operations in the 2012/2013 winter season by 7 percent compared to the 2011/2012 winter season.

The number of weekly flights increased from 531 in winter 2011 to 566 in winter 2012.

Tourism and travelling to Egypt were severely affected last year following disturbances caused by the January 2011 uprising that toppled former president Hosni Mubarak.

According to the company, there have been slight improvements this year compared to the previous one.

The flights to and from Egypt increased over the past period, Egypt Air Company said.

The company will increase the number of weekly flights to cities in the Middle East to 228 compared to 202 flights last year, Roshdi Zakariya, chairman of the board of directors of Egypt Air, told the Middle East News Agency (MENA).
