CAIRO, June 30 (Aswat Masriya) Two Egyptian police officers were killed and others were wounded on Monday in bomb blasts near the Heliopolis presidential palace, security sources said.
The first explosion killed a police officer and left another wounded.
Shortly afterwards, another police officer was wounded during his attempt to defuse a second bomb.
A second police officer was killed in the third blast that was followed by the taking apart of a fourth bomb.
The explosions came to mark the first anniversary of the June 30 protests that led to the ouster of President Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood last year.
A militant group that calls itself Ajnad Misr had warned that they planted bombs in the same area to target security forces. They said they were forced to suspend their mission due to concerns that civilians would be hurt.
Attacks against security forces have increased since Mursi's ouster.
