Egypt’s General Prosecution on Friday urged everyone who witnessed or has information about the Republican Guard violent clashes that broke out last Monday to provide their testimonies to aid the prosecution in the ongoing investigations, the state news agency reported.

The clashes which the army said escalated after some Muslim Brotherhood supporters had attempted to barge into the Republican Guard headquarters left more than 50 dead.

The Brotherhood and its allies stated that the army shot the demonstrators during the Fajr (dawn) prayers.

The prosecution ordered 206 people pending investigations.

It also ordered the arrest of the Brotherhood’s General Guide Mohamed Badie, deputy head of the Freedom and Justice Party Essam al-Erian and several other prominent Islamist figures.
