Taxi drivers strike over killing of colleague in Mansoura

CAIRO, Dec 17 (Aswat Masriya) Tens of Egyptian taxi and minibus drivers announced that they will go on strike in solidarity with a slain colleague in Manousra on Tuesday.

Mohamed Gamal al-Din, taxi driver, died on Monday night after being attacked by supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood as he drove past a demonstration they were staging, according to a statement by the Ministry of Interior.

The funeral of Gamal al-Din took place at noon.

According to the forensic report, his death was caused by a stab that cut through from his chin to neck and several other cuts.

The authorities said they arrested 10 "rioters" who were part of this demonstration after they assaulted the driver and halted traffic.
