CAIRO, Mar 21 (Aswat Masriya) - Egypt Air Company halted its flights to Libya on Friday after two rockets had hit the Tripoli Airport runway.
Two flights headed to and coming from Libya today were cancelled, said an Egypt Air official.
Flights to Tripoli Airport were halted but we hope to reopen the airport within hours, a senior Libyan official told Reuters.
Workers are currently removing the debris on the runway, he added.
Two rockets hit the runway at Friday dawn, the Libyan News Agency (LANA) reported.
The reason was unknown but residents said that gunfire was heard throughout the night across the capital, the agency stated.
Libya's government is fighting militias that assisted in the overthrow of former Leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. The militias kept their arms to demand more power, wealth, and oil.
