In a meeting with “Egypt’s Coptic Coalition” on Wednesday, presidential candidate Amr Moussa promised of serious, effective and swift efforts to uproot sectarian division.

Moussa added that there remains no room for short-term and partial solutions and stressed on the importance of protecting citizens’ constitutional rights, reported the Middle East News Agency.

Founded by a group of Egyptians, the coalition's purpose is to protect the citizens’ freedoms and rights, including the right to expression and religious belief. It also rejects foreign funding and international interference in local affairs. Its meeting with Moussa is among a series of sessions held with presidential candidates.

The former Arab League Chief is one of 13 candidates who are contesting for Egypt's May presidential elections.
