CAIRO, April 15 (Aswat Masriya) An Egyptian court sentenced 24 Azhar students to five years in prison on Tuesday for clashes that took place on January 15 as Egyptians voted for a new constitution.
The defendants are accused of belonging to a group that carries out illegal activities, of possessing inflammable devices among other weapons and of attacking security forces.
Muslim Brotherhood supporters organized demonstrations on January 14 and 15 to denounce a referendum on a constitution to replace another passed under ousted President Mohamed Mursi.
