President Mohamed Mursi will visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Wednesday in his first visit outside the country since he was elected president, Saudi Ambassador to Egypt Ahmed al-Qattan stated on Saturday.
Mursi will be meeting with King Abdullah.
“When I met president Mursi, he promised me that Saudi Arabia will be the first country he visits when he becomes president of Egypt”, Al-Qattan told Ahram Gate after meeting Mursi today at the presidential palace.
Mursi will also perform Umrah during his visit to Saudi.
Egyptian-Saudi relations were under great strain after the January 25 revolution which ended with the toppling of former president Hosni Mubarak especially following the arrest of lawyer Ahmed Gizawi in Saudi on charges of possessing narcotic substances according to what Saudi authorities said.
