The April 6 Youth Movement’s Democratic Front supports President Morsi's decree ordering the lower house of parliament to reconvene, the group said in a statement on Monday.

Morsi's decree marks an important point in a new wave of actions against Egypt's old regime and corruption, the group said, adding that it should be followed with an amnesty for all civilians set to be tried before military courts.

"This decision means that Egyptians truly elected their president in free and fair elections. That means the military council doesn’t represent us and should leave the political scene,” the statement said.

President Morsi has called for fresh parliamentary polls to be held within 60 days of the ratification of a new national constitution.

The assembly is set to resume its full legislative and regulatory responsibilities as soon as it reconvenes, which is expected "within hours," a statement from the assembly's speaker, Saad El-Katatni, said on Sunday evening.

SCAF had dissolved parliament's Islamist-led lower house in mid-June, based on a High Constitutional Court (HCC) ruling that found Egypt's parliamentary elections law – which regulated last year's legislative polls – to be unconstitutional, and declared the current parliament null and void.

The April 6 Movement is among the revolutionary groups which supported the Muslim Brotherhood's Mohamed Morsi, in the presidential elections.
