Cairo, Nov 28 (Aswat Masriya) - A homemade bomb went off Friday in al-Khalifa al-Ma'moun street in Heliopolis, Cairo, but no injuries were reported, sources at the Cairo Security Directorate said.
Explosives experts moved to the scene and combed the area for additional bombs.
Security apparatuses across Egypt raised their state of alert in main cities and squares, in anticipation of Islamist protests scheduled for Friday.
Egypt's ultra-conservative Salafi Front, called on people to take to the streets on Friday holding Qurans to "impose the Islamic identity". The rallies are scheduled to take off from several mosques in Egypt after Friday prayers, according to their official Facebook page.
